04 / Origins & history
Keria V & its moons
The setting for the original Kobots story: an oceanic world and its two moons, Ciar and Koishuma.

The world
Keria V
Keria V is a colonized, mid-sized oceanic M-class world with two moons. Its natural islands form along plate edges, and none are larger than a few kilometers. Its largest settlement sits on an artificial island, positioned for favorable weather and near-daily shuttle traffic.
Agriculture here is largely aquatic. Native plants and animals are farmed for food, industrial fibers, and pharmaceuticals, alongside light industry. Two major settled island chains are primarily devoted to tourism and recreation.
The moons
Ciar and Koishuma
Ciar is mostly ice and supplies much of the fuel and water used by its sister moon. Koishuma, the larger moon, is home to Kocore Industrial Sentient Systems.
Koishuma’s only colony is a domed city containing KISS headquarters and its main manufacturing center. The scientists, engineers, executives, and their families live there too. Having design and production in the same place keeps costs down and makes development quicker. Mining tunnels form another part of the moon’s industrial landscape.

The makers
Kocore Industrial Sentient Systems
KISS is a modestly sized corporation within the setting, focused on intelligent automation and specialized synthetics for frontier worlds. Keria V serves as a testing ground for its work.
KISS designed Kobots to fit into ordinary environments and narrow starship corridors, with parts that could be repaired or customized.
The original story
From prototypes to everyday life
The original synopsis follows Kobots as they leave the prototype stage and enter wider trials. A few thousand units work within the Keria system ahead of full commercial production.
Those trials reach beyond industrial performance. Work in shops, homes, and other everyday settings also explores how the units’ artificial intelligences develop natural, positive personalities.
That’s the original story’s population. Flosk is still the only Kobot character anyone has made.
